Keys of the Universe - Mother's Day Special

Ok, I have this idea worked out and I am happy to be able to offer it to everyone!

As a Mother's Day gift and preparation for the coming school year, I would like to offer anyone who has entered a Keys of the Universe giveaway on any site $15 off a new enrollment in the course, if they join before Tuesday May 15; and $10 off if they join before Saturday May 19.

8-month courses are $40/month - 16-month courses are $20/month - full-pay is $300.

All you'll need to do is go to http://keysoftheuniverse.com/elementary, create a new account; then send me a message with the e-mail used on that account, which course you want to join (8-month, 16-month, or full-pay) and the location of your giveaway entry (only one gift allowed per person ). I will send an invoice for the adjusted amount and add them to the proper course manually.
OR you can send the proper amount to jessica@keysoftheuniverse.com using Paypal, including a message with the location of your giveaway entry and which course you are joining; and I'll know to add you that way too

"Childhood Before TV"

So my son and are in the car one evening, driving to tae-kwon-do.

Somehow we started talking about my early childhood and I mentioned not watching tv.

He says to me in an incredulous voice, "What did you DO all day!?"

I proceeded to tell him some of the things I remember doing: building with blocks and other materials, playing grandma's organ, reading lots of good books, creating drawings, playing in the sandbox.... then I said, "WAIT a minute! All the things that YOU do all day!"

Why on earth did my son ask me that question, in THAT tone of voice!? He doesn't watch tv all day either! We don't have a tv signal! We watch a movie once a week, if that; and we do have a couple of DVDs for things like art instruction or other educational videos (all things Ancient Egypt, anyone!?), but we're talking less than 5 hours screen time a week. And these things are on the computer - not the tv. We do have videos for use on the tv we do own; which is used about once every 3 months. Maybe.

And he asks me what I did in my childhood without tv!?

Well, he got a good laugh out of tricking me into thinking he was thinking something he wasn't!

The little jokester.

Elementary Biology Album - now available

My son and I have been working feverishly to get this elementary Montessori biology album put together for everyone. It is a really fun album and every activity has been brought back so many wonderful memories, either just for me (because I'd done them with other children before I had my son) or for both of us, because we've done them together.

But the formatting was driving me crazy and I finally got my son on board to help. He didn't help much, but at least I could justify a mental break ;)

Without further ado - the Biology album, which covers ages 6-12 - or lower AND elementary Montessori - is available in the usual places:

Keys of the World

Garden of Francis

Keys of the Universe

with online support available as well.

ENJOY!

Woke up this morning...

and went into my son's room to check on the plants.

I found this:

I told him to put this cross somewhere nice. It has a whole in the back for hanging on hooks and such. Apparently that hole is the same size as the cable line coming in right there. After 4 years of being in this home, he found a use for the cable connection. (since why would we use it for cable ? ;) ).
